Ken Schroeder, along with Helen Kessler (HJKessler Associates), Deeta Bernstein (Public Building Commission of Chicago) and Suzanne Carlson (Chicago Public Schools) presented Implementing LEED in Chicago K -12 Schools, hosted by the USGBC, which was held at the Daley Center.
Public Building Commission of Chicago | PBC was awarded CMAA Top Honors for Modern Schools Across Chicago Program, in which SMNG-A are the Design Architects for the Elementary Schools under this program.
Two of the four projects the Public Building Commission of Chicago (PBC) has submitted to the Chicago Architecture Foundation (CAF) for the “Patron of the Year” Award were designed by SMNG-A Architects. They are Adam Clayton Powell, Jr. Padeia Community Academy and Ogden International School of Chicago.

The Schiller Studios was one of the winners of the first annual 2011 AIA Chicago Small Projects Awards. This is an award program recognizing work from small Chicago architectural firms and exceptional small local projects.
Federico Garcia Lorca Elementary School was a Merit Award finalist for the 2011 Chicago Building Congress and the Public Building Commission of Chicago was nominated as "Patron of the Year" by the Chicago Architectural Foundation for SMNG-A's design of the school.

Ken Schroeder was one of six presenters in the Pecha Kucha presentation, Architecture in Zero to Sixty, at the School & College Building Expo held at Navy Pier. This presentation was part of the Grand Opening Reception for the Expo.

Ken Schroeder, along with Helen Kessler (HJKessler Associates), Deeta Bernstein (Public Building Commission of Chicago) and Suzanne Carlson (Chicago Public Schools) presented Implementing LEED in Chicago K -12 Schools, for the 3rd Annual "Sustainable Schools Symposium" hosted by the Green Governments Coordinating Council, which was held at the Chicago High School for Agricultural Sciences.
In the April issue of "American School & University", SMNG-A's work is featured in the article 21st-Century Learning. We were the Design Architect for Calemca Academy of Fine Arts and Dual Language, West Ridge Elementary and Federico Garcia Lorca Elementary Schools. We also served as the Architect of Record for Federico Garcia Lorca Elementary School.

In 2011, SMNG-A Architects created "3 Schools +" , a book which documents our most recent work with the Public Building Commission of Chicago (PBC) and the Chicago Public Schools (CPS). This book can be order thru "Blurb".
